The Life Through Art Foundation is committed to funding educational

opportunities in the arts for underprivileged students and artists who

otherwise would not be able to finance such endeavors. The foundation

supports students pursuing various forms of education in any area of the

arts, including but not limited to, Theatre, Visual Arts, Dance, Music,

Creative Writing, Film Studies and Culinary Arts.

By working with existing nonprofits and educational institutions, we

assist students in finding programs that best suit their individual,

artistic, and educational needs.

This year we aspire to create at least 10,000 opportunities for

underprivileged children to explore the arts. Our goal is to enrich

children’s lives through the arts.

So who is the West Los Angeles VA FIsher House?

And what do they do?

A note from

Sharon Hudson

FIsher House Manager

“Our mission is to provide a ‘home away from home’ that allows Veteran and active duty family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time -- during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. [...]

We are located on the grounds of the WLA VA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Families who live more than 50 miles away from the treatment center can stay at the Fisher House for free! The West Los Angeles VA Fisher House has served over 3,000 families since opening its doors in February 2009; and saved these families over $2.2 million in lodging expenses alone over that period.”
